About
Hi, I’m Elias. I’m a geography nerd, a castle fan, and the person behind every map, photo, and travel guide on this site.
castle.guide started as a personal project – a way to combine the things I love most: organizing day trips, traveling to amazing places, and sharing what I find. What began as a handful of guides for castles in Bavaria has grown into something more ambitious. The goal is simple: to build the best castle travel resource on the internet, one carefully researched guide at a time.

Photography you can actually use
Every castle on this site has high-quality photography – no stock fillers, ever. All images on castle.guide are published under Creative Commons licences, which means you’re free to use them. Some were taken by me on visits; others come from photographers who have generously shared their work under open licences. Where an image came from, and who took it, is always credited.
Maps and geography at the heart of it
Geography is built into everything on this site. Each castle has its own map. Each region has an interactive overview that lets you explore by location. The site is organized by country, then region, then individual castle. Flags, more regional detail, and deeper map features are on the way.
Castle guides worth reading
Each entry covers what you can actually see and do at a castle, what’s nearby, how to get there, and what makes that particular place worth visiting. The goal for every guide is that it’s the most useful thing you’ll read before visiting that castle.
The site is still growing. New castles, new regions, and new features are added regularly. If you spot something missing, have a photo to contribute, or just want to say hello – I’d love to hear from you. hi@castle.guide
Thanks for being here. – Elias
