The Rondellzimmer – Bavaria’s Most Historically Charged Room?

Inside the southwestern battery tower of the Fürstenbau (Prince’s Wing), the Rondellzimmer (also called Fürstenzimmer) is widely considered the artistic and historical highlight of the entire castle. The room was redesigned between 1673-1677 and is covered with 22 paintings.
On 26 July 1806, Prince-Primate Carl Theodor von Dalberg, the last ecclesiastical prince of the Holy Roman Empire, signed the Rheinbundakte (Confederation of the Rhine Act) in this very room – one of the most consequential documents of the Napoleonic era, formally dissolving the Holy Roman Empire.
Today it can be booked as a civil wedding venue. Website of Wörth

History

The site of Schloss Wörth has been inhabited since at least the 10th century, when a Fliehburg (refuge fort) stood here around 914 AD. For most of the Middle Ages it served as a strategic stronghold and summer residence of the Bishops of Regensburg. From 1522 onward it was transformed from a medieval fortress into an elegant Renaissance palace.
Its most dramatic historical moment came on 26 July 1806, when the last Prince-Bishop Carl Theodor von Dalberg signed the Confederation of the Rhine Act in the Rondellzimmer, sealing the end of the Holy Roman Empire.
Today the interior is home to a Pro Seniore senior residence, with the Landkreis Regensburg owning the southern wing and its historic rooms.
